It has been a long three years, but veteran Hollywood blockbuster maestro Steven Spielberg has once again graced us with another stint in the director's chair, according People.

This time, he has teamed with old pal Tom Hanks for a new take on the cold-war era in a spy thriller titled "Bridge of Spies." But this film cannot quite be simply classified as a superstar duo, considering Joel and Ethan Coen penned the script. That means the quad of Academy Award-winning film veterans are poised to bring you the Russian-American crisis like no other in a film that is poised to be a fantastic hit.

Hanks stars a James Donovan, who is recruited by the CIA to lobby for the release of a captured Soviet spy named Rudolf Abel. But Donovan, who is only an insurance lawyer and seems reluctant to take the case, eventually folds to the mission and goes down in history with a world-changing legacy.

In the historical perspective, Abel's release was considered as a swap for a U.S. pilot, Francis Gary Powers, who was shot down over Soviet airspace in 1960.

This film is set mostly in Berlin, post WWII. This is about the same time the Berlin Wall was being built and the Soviets were constantly at odds with the Americans, which was a build up to the Cold War and the arms race in the '60s and '70s.

This also doesn't make Donovan's task any easier. In fact, you might say it makes his negotiations impossible and highly perilous, as evidenced by the trailer. The circumstances ramp up quickly and there are more than just two prisoner's lives at stake.

Alan Alda ("M.A.S.H.") returns to the screen as a partner at Donovan's law firm. We will also see Mark Rylance star as Abel and Amy Ryan as Donovan's wife Mary.
