Warner Bros. may have already given the “Green Lantern” reboot the green light, as Collider has pointed out, but a lot can still change since the film is still in its early stages. That said, the film may only be out on big screens by 2020.

Morever, according to the report, it looks like the upcoming “Green Lantern” reboot will be focusing on more than one human Green Lantern.

Those who are not familiar with the source material are not aware that there are actually a multitude of Green Lanterns across the universe. The Green Lanterns are actually part of an intergalactic police force. They get their powers from their rings, which, in turn, gets its energy from the willpower of whoever wears them. The only weakness that can stop them from their mission is the yellow energy of fear.

The most famous Green Lantern is Hal Jordan – the character who was portrayed in the 2011 film. Eventually, other Green Lanterns followed suit, such as Guy Gardner and John Stewart. That said, it has been heavily speculated that two of these aforementioned characters – if not all three – will be featured in the upcoming “Green Lantern” reboot.

With regards to the reboot’s sequels, rumor has it that each film will be centered on a certain Green Lantern character, and not on just one primary lead.

To officially introduce the Green Lantern into the DCU, or DC Cinematic Universe, rumor has it that he will be making a cameo appearance either in “Justice League Part 1” or in “Justice League Part 2.” Appearing with other DC superheroes in a separate film could be the marketing boost the solo Green Lantern feature film needs.

According to the rumor mill, the Justice League will be facing off with an Earth-based villain in “Justice League Part 1” and Green Lantern will fly in at the end of the film to warn the gang about an incoming intergalactic enemy – speculated to be Darkseid – that will serve as the gist of “Justice League Part 2.”

Since “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad” have not even hit theaters yet, and Warner Bros. is still thinking about what to do with Aquaman and Wonder Woman – which will be out in 2018 and 2017, respectively – the “Green Lantern” reboot is most likely going to happen in the distant future.

After all, “Green Lantern” does not seem to be the studio’s most pressing concern with regards to its chronology. The hope of the fans would have been deflated if not for a new batch of rumors that Warner Bros. will introduce the Green Lanterns during this year’s Comic-Con event.
