Another Latino star has reacted to Donald Trump's racist comments about Mexican immigrants.

J Balvin has canceled his performance at the Miss USA 2015 competition due to the presidential candidate's insensitive comments.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard, the Colombian singer explained his decision to cancel his appearance in the nationwide televised competition, which is owned by Trump and NBC.

"We're talking about our roots, our culture, our values," said Balvin. "This isn't about being punitive, but about showing leadership through social responsibility. His comments weren't just about Mexicans, but about all Latins in general."

Balvin did not know about the speech, and he also was not aware that Trump was connected to the pageant until a friend pointed it out to him.

Trump called the U.S. "a dumping ground for everybody else's problems," right before he went on to explain that Mexico "is sending us people with problems." He went on to call Mexican immigrants "rapists" and state that they bring drugs and crime to the U.S.

Balvin had a lot to say about the Mexican community and went on to show his support for the hard work that Mexicans contribute to the US.

"Mexico is a Latin powerhouse," said the singer. "And Mexicans, they're known as hard workers. Here in the U.S., not everybody wants to do those kinds of jobs. I've lived. I know what it feels like and what they go through and how families suffer. A comment like that is powerful."

Other performers for the pageant include Flo Rida, Natalie La Rose and the winner of the seventh season of NBC's "The Voice." Although this was to be Balvin's first major major mainstream television perormance, he does not regret his decision.

Balvin is just one of many Latino celebrities who have criticized Trump for his comments.

"I think music is to have fun. It's for people to have a good time with. I'm no savior and I'm no Robin Hood," he said. "But in this case, I feel totally comfortable and responsible with my decision."
