“Suicide Squad” will be hitting theaters next year and it features such an ensemble cast with the likes of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne, among others. Now, though, it looks like there is a chance another notable actress will be joining the film’s official cast.

Jada Pinkett Smith of “Gotham” has verbally expressed her desire to be part of the same DC project that her husband is currently busy shooting.

“There is a character that I love in the DC world,” Pinkett Smith told MTV UK. “Her name is Vixen – probably have not heard much of her. She is, kind of, in that ‘Suicide Squad’ world as well. I love Vixen. If there was any character, I would love to play her. I am going to have to put my little word in with the director.”

Vixen, the character that Pinkett Smith wants to portray -- whose real name is Mari Jiwe McCabe -- first appeared in the DC superhero story arc in the early 80s. She has the power to harness the traits of all animals, such as the strength of a bull elephant and the speed of a cheetah.

Pinkett Smith has a lot of time on her hands now, as she believes that she will no longer be part of “Gotham” Season 2.

“I signed for a year,” she told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan when she appeared on “Live with Kelly & Michael” earlier this year. “The year is up.”

In “Gotham,” she portrays the role of a female crime ring leader, Fish Mooney, who owns her own night club. She may work under the crime lord, Carmine Falcone, but she still operates her own standalone unit and had even attempted to overthrow Falcone at one point. She also occasionally provides information to the police through Detective Bullock.

Fish Mooney is one of the very few “Gotham” characters who were not derived from the source material. That said, she is the only main villain in the televised “Batman” storyline that has a fate unknown to comic book readers.

“I get to play a character who gets to do extreme things,” she added. “She is evil! That is always fun! I am having a good time.”

Although it is highly likely that “Gotham” Season 2 is pushing through without her in the mix, she hinted that Fish Mooney “could show up anywhere.”
