Fox's "Wayward Pines" has only three episodes more, and last week's episode, "The Friendliest Place on Earth" revealed Kate Hewson's (Carla Gugino) true nature and that Mrs. Fisher (Hope Davis) can get to Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) through his son, Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan).

Ethan and his wife, Theresa Burke (Shannyn Sossamon), reached a new understanding and mended their relationship that had been strained by his past affair with Kate.

David Pilcher/Dr. Jenkins (Toby Jones) panicked when he realized that the creepy little town he built is still jeopardized by Kate and her husband Harold Balinger's (Reed Diamond) plot to blow up with fence.

Ethan managed to capture Harold, but he was returning to town intent on saving Kate as another member of their blow-up-the-fence-and-escape group drove a dump truck bomb toward the fence.

In the last scene of "The Friendliest Place on Earth," the dump truck barreled into the fence, the bomb exploded, and the truck's driver managed to survive. He ventured into the land beyond Wayward Pines with his friend's dead body in tow, but was attacked by Abbies.

Now, every citizen in Wayward Pines is at risk of being attacked and killed.

In the video clip from this week's "Wayward Pines" episode "A Reckoning," the young leaders of the First Generation demand Sheriff Burke execute Kate and the others responsible for the "terrorist" attack that destroyed the protective fence. Dr. Jenkins agrees that a reckoning must be performed.

But will Ethan comply?

"I have a very special place in my heart for [Episode 9]," showrunner Chad Hodge told TVLine. "It's an incredibly well written script by the Duffer brothers and directed wonderfully by Nimród Antal."

Gugino also cited the episode as her favorite of the Fox TV series.

Watch "Wayward Pines" Episode 9, "A Reckoning," on Thursday, July 16 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
