A woman filed a lawsuit in 1991 against Amy Duggar's father, Terry Jordan, who is the brother-in-law of Jim Bob Duggar, for knowingly giving her the herpes virus.

The unidentified Arkansas woman claimed, according to Washington County court documents, the "19 Kids and Counting" guest star gave her the herpes simplex virus on Dec. 4, 1991, reports Radar Online. The woman alleged Jordan "negligently failed" to warn her he carried the virus.

"Terry Jordan willfully engaged in sexual intercourse with the Plaintiff ... knowing at the time of the sexual intercourse that he was a carrier of the herpes simplex virus," the woman's lawyer wrote in case filing documents.

According to the woman, she suffered herpes outbreaks and "extreme emotional distress." She sued for $1 million in exemplary damages.

While Jordan admitted he and the woman had unprotected sex, he denied having herpes, though he refused the blood test that would have proved his innocence.

On Dec. 8, 1992, however, the suit was dismissed when the woman failed to answer medical questions requested by Jordan.

It was not the first time Jordan faced legal action. Radar Online reported his wife Deanna Duggar had filed a restraining order against him in 1992 for verbal abuse and threats.

In court documents dated July 24, 1992, Deanna claimed, "He said he was going to kick my *ss" and that he had an extensive history of verbal abuse.

She also alleged he threatened to kill her and their newborn daughter in September 1986 following Amy's birth.

"I had just delivered [redacted], Terry came into my hospital room and [said] I should kill you and the baby," Deanna wrote.

Earlier this year, Us Weekly reported Amy confirmed tabloid reports that her parents where not married when she was born. The aspiring country singer shared an Instagram photo of her parents, along with the caption, "The tabloids are telling the truth. My mom and dad did have me out of wedlock."

The couple eventually married in 2006, when Amy was 20.

Meanwhile, it remains unknown if the TLC network will bring back the Duggar family for the hit TV series "19 Kids and Counting."
