'Amazing Spider Man 2' Release Date, Cast & News Update: Emma Stone Also Hints on Death of Gwen Stacy?

Emma Stone dropped some info bombs about the upcoming "Amazing Spider Man 2" during her chat with Ryan Seacrest on his radio program. She said the fate of her character, Gwen Stacy, will be revealed to fans in the sequel.

The actress told Seacrest, "Basically they're going to see the continuation of the Spider Man story, which is the hero's journey, and he's up against a whole new squadron of villains and he's struggling with promises he's made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it's like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore."

Stone of course, was referring to the scene in the first "Amazing Spider Man" film where Peter Parker made a promise to Gwen's dying dad to not be with her anymore to protect her from his future enemies.

The "Easy A" star continues, "I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen's story as closely to the comic as possible."

Rumors of Gwen's death in the Spider Man films started circulating after The Hollywood Reported first stated Shailene Woodley's role in the sequel as Mary Jane.

Comic book fans are well aware that the death of Gwen was told in the 121st issue of "The Amazing Spider-Man". According to the story, the Green Goblin has captured Gwen and places her in one of the towers of the George Washington Bridge.

Shortly after Spidey arrives, Goblin throws Gwen off the bridge. Spider-Man swiftly swings in and grabs her leg. But upon checking on her, he saw that she was already dead. He's not sure if she had been dead when the Goblin dropped her or if his sudden attempt to save her broke her neck.

Whether this was the "story" that Stone was referring to in her statement or not, fans will just have to wait for the film. But, according to SuperHeroHype, photos of Stone on the set of the film reveal that her outfit is very similar to what Gwen was wearing in the 121st issue.
