Miley Cyrus is returning to the MTV Video Music Award's stage, but this time she won't be bringing out any foam fingers. The "We Can't Stop" singer took to Instagram on July 20 to announce she will be hosting the award show.

The 22-year-old posted a photo of someone dressed in a green alien bodysuit and wearing a sign that reads, "MTV won't let me perform." Next to that picture is another revealing Cyrus in the alien suit and wearing another sign that says, "So I'm hosting this year's VMA's."

Cyrus famously performed at the 2013 MTV VMA's and shocked everyone with her overtly sexual dancing and gimmicks. The singer became the focus of countless of social media memes, ridicule and caused a various parody twerking videos.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the singer eventually broke her silence a few days after her infamous performance stating, "You're wanting to make history.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?" she continued. "Madonna's done it. Britney's done it."

At last years VMAs, Cyrus didn't perform but made headlines regardless, reported MTV, when she decided to give up her acceptance speech after winning "Video of The Year" to her date for the night, a homeless teenager named Jesse Helt. Cyrus used that moment to establish her Happy Hippie organization, which supports the LGBT community and youth dealing with issues like homelessness.

Cyrus beat out some of music's biggest stars with her first VMA win, including Beyoncé ft. Jay Z, for "Drunk In Love"; Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX nominated for "Fancy"; Pharrell Williams for "Happy"; and Sia for "Chandelier." However, the media's focus was more on her crying during Helt's speech than the win.

The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air on Aug. 30 on MTV.
