A mass shooting took place inside a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana Thursday evening at around 7:30 p.m. CT. The shooter killed himself after allegedly killing two movie goers and injuring at least seven. This story is still developing.

At around 7:30 p.m. a middle-aged white man arrived at the Grand Theater 16 and opened fired during the screening of a film, according to Lafayette Advertiser. The newspaper’s reporters were on scene early on reporting police in the area and first broke the news about the fatalities.

Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft provided more information about the victims, saying two were confirmed dead. Seven others were injured with injuries ranging from non-life threatening to critical. He also told news outlets the suspect is 58 years old and used a handgun.

The police, though they have identified the suspect, declined to identify him in lieu of the ongoing investigation.

Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal tweeted around two hours after the shooting, explaining he was being informed on the situation and was heading to Lafayette.

Gov. Jindal arrived at the scene by 9:30 local time, reports local KATC news station. Police told reporters that the shooter appeared to have shot randomly; however, police have yet to release a motive for the shooting as well as the identities of the victims.

The shooting took place during a screening of Amy Schumer’s movie “Trainwreck.” The comedian and actor tweeted out her support for the victims and their families.
