Colombian singer Shakira will be joining actors Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin as a cast member of Disney's upcoming animated flick "Zootopia."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney made the announcement at the D23 Expo on Aug. 14, the same day that Shakira took to Twitter to reveal the news of her casting and new music to her fans. The star also shared an image of what her character will look like.

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer will be voicing the role of a character named Gazelle, whom she can very much relate to because, in the film, Gazelle is the biggest pop star in the land of Zootopia. Not only will the singer voice the character, but she will also be performing a new original song for the film to be called "Try Everything."

Those present at the expo were shown a taped video from the singer announcing her role and were able to hear a clip from the song, which was written by singer-songwriter Sia and songwriting duo Stargate, reported USA Today.

The film revolves around Goodwin's character, Judy Hopps, who is a bunny with dreams of being a police officer and so she teams up with Bateman's character, a fox who is also a scam artist, to solve a mystery that can prove she has what it takes to join the police force.

The film is set to be directed by Byron Howard, whose resume includes "Tangled," Rich Moore, whose previous work includes "Wreck-It Ralph" and will also be co-directed by Jared Bush. The film's current release date is set for March 4, 2016.

Shakira, who recently served as a coach and judge on Season 4 and 6 of "The Voice," has taken time out of the spotlight to spend time with her family after giving birth to her second son Sasha, with soccer star Gerard Piqué, on Jan. 29.
