Current UFC middleweight champion is open to fighting the former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. The UFC has suspended Jones after a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico last April.

Weidman told MMA Hour, "I know for a fact, I'm not leaving this sport without fighting Jon, unless he's not coming back at all. But if he's there, and I'm here, people are going to want to see it happen. And I want to see it happen."

"Bones" was stripped of his title and suspended by the UFC after he allegedly hit a pregnant woman and fleeing the scene on foot. According to Bleacher Report, he came back at the scene to grab a large amount of money before leaving the scene again.

Weidman will defend his UFC middleweight title on December 12 in the UFC 194 card headlined by Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor. He's against former StrikeForce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

This marks Weidman's fourth title defense since he defeated Anderson Silva in the second round of their fight in 2013. Silva and Jones were also involved in talks about a super fight, but it never came close to happening.

Back in 2012 before he was the middleweight king, Weidman offered to fight Jones on two week's notice when Dan Henderson was out of UFC 151 in a report by MMA Fighting. Jones instead fought Vitor Belfort.

Weidman holds no grudge against Jones, "That's nothing against Jon. It's just because I'm a competitor. I want to fight the best possible people. I want to have the biggest challenges in front of me and conquer them."

"That's why I wanted to fight Anderson Silva when nobody else wanted to fight him. I want the biggest challenges. I want to beat people who people think I can't beat. And Jon is definitely going to be one of those guys," Weidman continues.

Jones needs to get his life together if he wants to return to MMA. He tested positive for cocaine in a non-competition drug test last January. A pipe with marijuana was also found in his car in the hit-and-run accident as reported by Yibada.

Super fights are rare in a report by Yahoo, with the exception of Chuck Lidell vs Wanderlei Silva in 2007. Randy Couture against Fedor Emelianenko never materialized, and fans wanted Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, but it did not happen.

As Weidman knows he still need a big name opponent to become the greatest, a win against the possibly the greatest light heavyweight of all time will make that happen.
