The final "WWE SmackDown" before "SummerSlam" airs Thursday night, and the show -- taped on Tuesday -- began with a match, not a promo spot.

Intercontinental Champion Ryback opened the show with a match against one of this "SummerSlam" opponents: Big Show. The match ended by count-out as both WWE Superstars wrestled outside of the ring. Notably absent was the third "SummerSlam" opponent The Miz, but he was in Florida for "Tough Enough."

The wrestling continued with The New Day competing in a six-man tag-team match against Los Matadores, including El Torito. The conclusion of the match saw Big E splash Torito, which provided Xavier Woods to secure the pinfall victory.

The promos finally started with Dolph Ziggler and Lana. The pair spoke about the events from "Monday Night Raw," and his return to the ring. Rusev and Summer Rae interrupted and promoted the former's match against Ziggler at "SummerSlam." No physical interaction occurred.

In a battle of former NXT Champions, Neville defeated Bo Dallas, in a quick match, with the Red Arrow. After the match, Stardust and King Barrett appeared, via the titantron, to also promote their match against Neville and "Arrow" actor Stephen Amell at "SummerSlam."

It was time for the divas division to take the spotlight. Team Bella came to the ring and cut a promo, but Team B.A.D interrupted them. After a tense moment, Becky Lynch and Charlotte appeared, without Paige, since she was also in Florida to film "Tough Enough." A triple-threat match then occurred with Brie Bella against Becky Lynch and NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks. Brie pinned Lynch by grabbing a handful of her tights. Rightfully, Banks was not pinned or submitted ahead of her NXT Women's Championship match against Bayley on Saturday night for "NXT Takeover: Brooklyn."

The main event was next with an eight-man tag-team match. Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns defeated Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, Luke Harper and Sheamus. The match was given plenty of broadcast time and saw a lot of build up since all eight WWE Superstars have a "SummerSlam" match this Sunday. Ambrose secured the pin on Harper after Dirty Deeds.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and United States Champion John Cena did not appear on the show.

"WWE SmackDown" airs weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on SyFy.
