Manchester City remained on top of the 2015-16 English Premier League standings, while Manchester United and Liverpool failed to score their third victory in as many games.

Manchester City 2 - 0 Everton

Manchester City are now in solo first place after scoring a 2-0 win against Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.

Manchester City had a slow start in the match as the first half ended without a goal from both teams. Aleksandar Kolarov broke the silence, as he netted a difficult shot during the 60th minute. Samir Nasri ended Everton's hope of staging a comeback, as he struck a goal from the center off a through ball from Yaya Toure.

With the victory, Manchester City have now won three games in as many matches for nine points in the standings, while Everton are now 1-1-1 with four points.

Manchester United 0 - 0 Newcastle United

Unlike their rival, Manchester United failed to get three points again, as they settled for a scoreless draw against Newcastle United on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney had a chance to put Manchester United ahead early in the match, but his goal was ruled out for offside. The goal could have ended Rooney's goal drought. The England international has not scored over their past 10 matches dating back to last season.

With the draw, Manchester United settled for just a point, but they are still second in the standings with seven points, while Newcastle United remained winless in three matches.

Arsenal 0 - 0 Liverpool

Liverpool also failed to score another victory, as they also settled for a scoreless draw against Arsenal on Monday in front of more than 60,000 fans at Emirates Stadium in England.

Both teams had several scoring chances in the match, but goalkeepers Petr Cech and Simon Mignolet made key saves for their respective teams.

Liverpool are still in second place -- tied with Manchester United and Leicester City, whose match with Tottenham Hotspur ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday at King Power Stadium.
