Android-heads will be excited to learn that not only has Samsung elected to drop the price of the upcoming Galaxy S5, it will be releasing the Galaxy Gear 2 watch sometime next week!

First comes the news about the drop in price of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5. According to CNET, the phone -- whose prices have gone as high as $600, according to some reports -- will now be offered "for significantly less than previous S phones," according to a so-called "source" familiar with the matter, who only spilled the information on the condition of anonymity. The phone, which will be unveiled on Feb. 24 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, will also feature a 5.2-inch screen, a faster processor than the S4, and a fingerprint sensor which will reportedly unlock the smartphone.

Meanwhile, according to The Verge, the new line of the Galaxy Gear will begin being released next week, and that includes the Galaxy Gear 2 "SmartWatch," which is the successor to the original Gear Watch, whose sales were nothing if not disappointing for the company. But according to the same site, the reason for the disappointing sales is "lackluster battery life, an odd appearance, and a generally unintuitive interface," problems that the Gear 2 hopes to ameliorate with their reported release next week.
