It's that time of the year when young gamers begin shaking off summer break rust and start preparing for another year of pens and books. But with the upcoming slew of next generation games and original titles coming as well as a new software update on the PS4 this September, it's easy to wish for summer to last a little bit longer.

Game Zone has recently cataloged the titles based their day of release with "Mad Max," "Armello," and "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" setting the bar high on Sept. 1.

"Tearaway Unfolded" will have solo billing on the PS4 on Sept. 8. Media Molecule's digital papercraft adventure was previously a PS Vita-exclusive.

On the other hand, "Destiny: The Taken King" will be sharing the spotlight with a pair of next-generation sports games namely "Pro Evolution Soccer 2016" and "NHL 16" on Sept. 15. PES 2016 will bring back core PES control mechanics while NHL 16 will see the return of customized multiplayer mode and improved progression systems.

Fans who want to play as toys can grab the latest iteration of "Skylanders: SuperChargers" on Sept. 20. The game will be introducing vehicular combats and aerial dogfights.

Those who want to splurge on a diversified batch of games must wait until Sept. 22 when turn-based strategy game "Blood Bowl 2," "FIFA 16" which will feature 12 women's national teams, and first-person horror shooting game "SOMA" will be released.

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" will take the center ramp on Sept. 25. The game will feature multiple missions and obstacles to discover while its levels are inspired from real-world locations. Skate gamers can also create their own park, which they could share online.

"NBA Live 16" will boast a new Freestyle Control and Movement on Sept. 29. On-court improvements include better defensive and offensive play as well as refinements in passing, shooting and dribbling.

But can it ever compete with "NBA 2K16," which comes out on the same day? Aside from being the more popular and well-acclaimed of the pair, this version of "NBA 2K" has Spike Lee at the directorial helm. Lee will be a key figure in the game's MyCareer mode. An improved fixture on "NBA 2K16" is that many NBA players have had their entire body scanned for the game unlike the previous 2Ks wherein only their heads were detailed.

The basketball video games will be joined by "LEGO Dimensions." Gamers can take on the role of characters from various books, comics and movies. Of course, the characters will be stylized in a manner that only LEGO knows how.

Rounding off the batch of Sept. 29 PS4 games is the sword game, "Samurai Warriors 4-II."
