Speculation on the Xiaomi Mi 4c first saw the light of day in August 2015.

Tech Gadgetsz previously reported the existence of the unreleased handset via prior hints from TENAA, which is the Chinese equivalent to the FCC in the U.S., and from the AnTuTu benchmark database. The device in question was even tipped on Geek Bench as the "Xiaomi Libra".

Just before September arrived, a screenshot of the Mi 4c's rumored packaging leaked online. The image indicated that the upcoming device will be powered on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 and will come with a USB Type-C connector, among others.

"The Xiaomi Mi 4c is expected to ship with a high performance Snapdragon 808 SoC, the same chip found in the LG G4. This SoC features two high power Cortex-A57 CPU cores, four lower power A53 cores and an Adreno 418 GPU... The Mi 4c also apparently comes with a USB Type-C connector, another first for a Xiaomi smartphone," Android Authority earlier wrote on the packaging leak.

Now, a recent report has corroborated with the aforesaid details and has even mentioned the supposed release date of the Mi 4c.

"Xiaomi could be dropping a bomb on the mid-range smartphone market on 22nd September with the launch of the new Xiaomi Mi4c. The Xiaomi Mi4c will be the 3rd Mi4 model to launch since last year. From what we have learned from leaks and TENAA documents the new phone will sit between the Xiaomi Mi4i and Mi4 and come in at a very competition price," Giz China reported.

Conclusive details on its price tag have yet to be announced, but the Mi 4c is likely to cost 1,300 CNY or about $200 USD, just like the Xiaomi Mi 4i and Mi 4 before it.

As for the rest of the Mi 4c's specs, it will have a five-inch 1080p display, 3,080mAh battery and 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal memory. The device will feature the same 13-megapixel main camera and a five-megapixel front-facing unit as the Mi 4i. It will support 3G, GPRS, and LTE connectivity while running on the Xiaomi's latest OS, the MIUI 7.

Prior specification listings from TENNA, with translation from NDTV Gadgets, indicated that the Mi 4c will come in six color variants: black, green, orange, red, white and yellow.

It will also have the common smartphone features such as Bluetooth, infrared and FM radio. Its camera will be capable of 5x optical zoom while having an accelerometer. Lastly, its CMOS camera sensor will be able to detect proximity as well as ambient light.
