Robin Thicke wants to work it out with his wife and he's doesn't care who knows it.

The 36-year-old "Blurred Lines" singer told TMZ photographers when they caught up with him at Dulles Airport outside of Washington that he hasn't given up on his marriage.

When asked by photographers, "Are you and Paula going to work things out," Thicke responded plainly: "I'm just trying to get her back, man. I'm just trying to figure it out, man."

Some sources say that Paula was the one who called it off Friday and in a desperate attempt to reconcile, Robin canceled a number of appearances and flew to Canada where Paula was filming "Warcraft" but it didn't go as well as Thicke had hoped.

After nearly 9-years of marriage, Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have announced Monday that they are separating. Speaking on the issue, the pair said in a joint statement: "We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

Sources say their marriage became undone during Thicke's on-stage sexually charged performance with Miley Cyrus. Paula, 38, was apparently livid and felt "utterly disgusted" and "disrespected" with what had happened at the MTV Video Music Awards.

According to IB Times: "Robin wanted to save their marriage, but it was Paula's choice, and she ended it. Robin does not want this divorce," a source told Us Weekly. With another insider saying that Paula is done with the marriage while Robin is fighting to stay together.

E! Online reports that Thicke posted a note to his fans via his website saying: "I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days. My fans mean everything to me. I'm looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington DC this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!"

The couple says the split is mutual and have a 3-year-old son together named Julian.
