Episode 11 in season 2 of "The Strain" revealed a bit of background story for Eichorst (Richard Sammel) to give viewers a glimpse of his days before he became a strigoi. The latest episode, titled "Dead End," also proved Dutch's (Ruta Gedmintas) determination to survive as Eph (Corey Stoll), Nora (Mia Maestro) and Fet (Kevin Durand) continue to search for her all over New York City.

"Dead End" opens where episode 10, "The Assassin," left off, with Dutch chained inside Eichorst's torture chamber. Eichorst enters bringing a policeman. Dutch watches in fear as Eichorst forces the man to down liquor before he "drinks" from him. He then wrings the man's neck to prevent him from turning into a strigoi. He approaches Dutch and tells her that once in a while he enjoys a "human cocktail," since it soothes him.

Meanwhile, Setrakian wakes up to find himself tied to a chair. He is greeted by a familiar face, Rudyard Fonescu. However, that young boy from the Austrian nunnery is now all grown up. Setrakian tells Rudyard that he saved his life from the vampire massacre in 1966, so he should return the favor and let him go.

He also tells him about the importance of the book as being the only way to save humanity. However, instead of letting him go, Rudyard leaves with the book and abandons Setrakian still tied to the chair. Fortunately, he was able to escape after Rudyard left.

Back in the torture chamber or "White Room," Eichorst continues to scare Dutch. He smells her hair and tells her that her shampoo reminds him of someone he knew he couldn't have. The scene then cuts back to which Comicbook identified as the year 1931, the time when Eichorst was still human and making a poor job at being a door-to-door salesman.

This is when viewers were introduced to Eichorst's love interest, a woman named Helga who is a German Jew. What was supposed to be a start of a new romance for Eichorst turned to tragedy after he betrayed her with the German soldiers.

Now a member of the high-ranking officials of the Nazi party, Eichorst was asked by a fellow soldier if he had a relationship with Helga. Eichorst says he only knew her from work and lies that she was once accused of stealing money. Eichorst saw the damage his lie has done to Helga and her family the following day, when he saw them dead hanging from a tree.

Back to the present, Eph, Nora and Fet managed to find an entrance into Mayfair Hotel where Dutch is held captive. Fortunately, Nora hears her screams from behind a brick wall. Fet blows it up so they can rescue Dutch, who has escaped the "White Room" after using pepper spray on Eichorst.  Fet sees Eichorst dragging Dutch back to the room and he throws a silver grenade at them. Eichorst escapes with a burnt face and Dutch is saved.

Episode 11 in season 2 of "The Strain" ended with Rudyard looking to put the Occido Lumen on a bid for the highest buyer. He goes to the same dealer Setrakian paid with his watch to find the book.
