The 2015 Latin Grammy Awards are getting closer and the Latin Recording Academy has announced the nominations, but the biggest nominees are names you may not necessarily know.

According to Billboard, the artists with the most nominations, singer-songwriters Leonel García and Natalia Lafourcade, haven't been on the Billboard music charts in years.

García is up for a total of six nominations, which include Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Alternative Album and Best Singer-Songwriter Album, for his album "Amor Futuro."

Lafourcade, who won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 2013, is up for five nominations. Her nominations include Best Alternative Song, which feature García, Best Alternative Album, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, all for her album "Hasta La Raíz."

Popular music veterans like Juan Luis Guerra and Alejandro Sanz are both nominated for Record of the Year and Album of the Year, for their albums "Todo Tiner Su Hora" and "Sirope," respectively. Also up for Album of the Year are Pepe Aguilar, Miguel Bosé, Café Quijano, Natalia Jiménez, Monsieur Periné, María Toledo and Rubén Blades. With the exception of Aguilar and Natalia Jiménez, most are names of artists that aren't particularly known in the states.

This is due to the fact that the Latin Grammy's nominate artist from various Latin American countries and not simply from the United States and Mexico.

"This year's crop of nominees truly personify and represent a considerably diverse, eclectic and comprehensive worldwide Latin music community, which is a testament to The Latin Recording Academy's voting process," Said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President / CEO of The Latin Recording Academy in a Business Wire press release.

"With so many music professionals participating in the awards process, it's gratifying to see so many creators, performers and producers getting due recognition From their peers. With this list of nominees, the Latin Grammys are sure to be one of the biggest Latin music celebrations yet. "

However, fans can still expect to see some of their favorite Latin American stars at the Awards. Artists like Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Yandel and Daddy Yankee, who are all nominated for Best Urban Performance, are up for a few awards.

Other nominees include Ricky Martin, Maná, Victor Manuelle, Chino y Nacho, Banda El Recodo, Juanes and Calle 13.

The Latin Grammy Awards will air on Nov. 19 on Univision. For a full list of nominees head over to the Latin Grammy Awards website.
