Carolina Panthers gets pass rusher Jared Allen from the Chicago Bears via a trade.

Allen, a veteran defensive football player for 11 years, will not be completing his 12th NFL season as a Bear, as the Chicago team traded him for a 2016 sixth-round draft pick, Fox Sports reported.

However, the Dallas-born athlete must wait for a go signal following physical exam before the exchange becomes official, notes the site, citing Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond's statement.

The Panthers decided to acquire the services of Allen after their own star pass rusher Charles Johnson sustained a hamstring injury during last Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Although Panthers coach Ron Rivera reportedly believed that Johnson's hamstring problem was not that serious, the team made a safe move with Allen.

ESPN thought that it was a wise decision for Carolina to take in the 33-year-old pass rusher in their camp, especially with a poor showing with respect to pass rushing lately. The Panthers only delivered one sack per game in their last two appearances on the field. Aside from that, with a 3-0 win-loss record, the Panthers should aim to sustain their great record by investing in someone like Allen, who posted 134 sacks in his entire career. Per ESPN stats, his most productive years were the six seasons he played under the Minnesota Vikings, specifically in the 2011 season when he posted his career-high record of 22 sacks.

On the other hand, Fox Sports noted that Bears general manager Ryan Pace issued a statement how the team would move on from this action and also thanked the seasoned pass rusher, who entered their roster last 2014.

"We had some depth at the linebacker position... Whether it is acquiring additional picks or signing players, we will continue to be aggressive in finding ways to improve our football team," Pace said in the press release.

However, Allen's leaving surprised most of Bears fans and also his teammates. Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee reacted that the team did not just lose a member but a respected leader, too.
