WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan has been out of action since April this year due to concussion-related injuries. He confirmed his injury via an interview with Pro-Wrestling.netsaying, "Well, it's actually not a neck issue, my neck is completely fine. It's more of a concussion issue."

Bryan confirmed that he was cleared by one concussion doctor. However, WWE's doctor won't let him come back due to his concussion history. "One neurologist who specializes in concussions, who was the neurologist for the Super Bowl last year cleared me with no limitations. All my testing came back excellent," Bryan told IGN.

"But the WWE's medical doctor is skeptical, because of my history of concussions and that sort of thing. So they will not clear me," he added.

WWE has a strict concussion policy nowadays after years of ignoring head injuries. It started with the Chris Benoit double-murder suicide incident in 2007, where Benoit's brain was like an 85-year-old Alzheimer's patient after undetected concussions over the years, per ABC News.

As for the leader of the "YES" movement, he is looking forward to meeting with a third doctor that could decide his future in wrestling. "They're going to send me to a third doctor at some point in the near future and that doctor will decide my fate," the 34-year-old said via IGN.

Bryan's injury history also includes a neck injury from 2013 when he started losing strength in his right arm. He underwent cervical foraminotomy to relieve pressure from the nerve root, which was performed by world-renowned neurosurgeon and sports medicine specialist Dr. Joseph Maroon, per WWE.com.

As for his future, if WWE won't clear him, he is open to wrestling outside the company and into the independent circuit where he started. Bryan told IGN that he would love to wrestle in Mexico because of his fandom of Lucha Libre and he is open to doing mask versus hair matches.

However, if the third neurologist say that he can't wrestle again, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion does not have any choice but to retire, saying, "If they send me to a third neurologist who's also highly respected in the concussion field and they say literally no, then is it really smart to go against two doctors?"

He also said that if he can't wrestle again, he is open to working as a commentator or an on-air manager. With the ratings at an all-time low and John Cena taking time off until the end of the year, per Yahoo! Sports, the mere presence of Daniel Bryan is an added boost that WWE needs right now. Hopefully, he could be cleared to wrestle again as he is just entering the prime of his career.
