On Friday's "Dr. Ken" Season 1, Episode 2 "The Seminar," the medical office celebrates a promotion for Clark (Jonathan Slavin). Dr. Ken (Ken Jeong) is oblivious because he lives in his own reality, which upsets Clark. Clark believes Ken is being selfish, which inspires him to write a fake complaint about Ken.

Later in the episode, Ken must attend a training seminar to improve his bedside manners, which leaves his wife Allison (Suzy Nakamura) at home to have dinner with his parents.

During the "Dr. Ken" Season 1 premiere on Oct. 2, viewers met the cranky physician, his therapist wife and their two children, Molly (Krista Marie Yu) and Dave (Albert Tsai).

The premiere received impressive ratings, reports Variety. Nielsen figures report that the premiere debuted with 6.7 million viewers at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, after "Last Man Standing," which garnered 6.5 million viewers at 8 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jeong, who worked as a doctor in real life, told The Spec about his excitement at having landed a lead role on primetime television.

"All of those characters have an edge, but Dr. Ken is the most grounded," the 46-year-old said backstage on Sony's Stage 28 in Culver City last week. "He's also the most zoo-ified. He's a bit caged up, burned-out, and he has his anger issues."

The actor said he's ecstatic that "Dr. Ken" will pave the way for ethnic and cultural diversity on primetime sitcoms.

"I'm so happy about it," Jeong said. "It's like Viola Davis' Emmy speech, which made me cry because it was so true. There are so many talented minority actors who you have never heard about because they are never given a shot."

Viewers are happy about the show, too. The "Dr. Ken" Facebook page has 257,941 fans and growing.

Watch "Dr. Ken" Season 1, Episode 2 "The Seminar" on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
