In the summer transfer window, Manchester United tried to pry away Bayern Munich forward Thomas Müller away from Allianz Arena with an €85-million bid, as reported by The Guardian. However, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has repeated over and over again that Müller is not for sale and United should stop emailing about the player.

Rummenigge told reporters after their 5-1 win over Borussia Dortmund last Oct. 4 in "Der Klassiker" that the Germany international, who scored a brace in the game, is not for sale. He said, as translated by the Daily Mail, "I am not a banker. We are a football club. That is why we never even considered selling Thomas Müller."

"I told my colleagues at Manchester United: 'I cannot close down my email account, but you no longer need to send me anything. It is useless,'" he added.

Bayern's sporting director Matthias Sammer added, via The Guardian, that they are indeed not selling the 26-year-old forward. "It is not Thomas who is causing the fuss, it is his performances. And we can't do anything about that. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is right. He is a player that we cannot put a price on," Sammer said.

Müller has a special relationship with United manager Louis Van Gaal, who coached Bayern from 2009 to 2011. The player told The Daily Star, "Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes beyond that which is normal between a player and a coach."

According to The Guardian, the Red Devils are willing to offer Müller a €370,000 per week salary, which will make him one of the highest-paid players in the English Premier League, and Müller seems to be tempted in moving to England, as reported by Mirror.

He told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, as translated by Mirror, "In the end, we should not forget that playing football is our job. So people should accept that wages will always play a role in a player's decision-making. Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to deny that."

This is a huge hint that the forward is indeed at least thinking of joining his former coach as well as former teammate and Bayern captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, who transferred to United last summer. According to Transfermarkt, Müller has a contract until 2019 and it will take a really huge amount to sign him as his market value is at €55 million and Bayern values him much more than that figure.
