Video game developer and publisher Capcom will be focusing more on virtual reality. The Japanese company confirmed on their Integrated Report 2015 that they are investing on VR technology in the future.

"At present, we are focusing our energy on challenging the virtual reality (VR) game market. In this terrifying world, you can twist and turn as you like, but there's no escaping the creatures closing in on you until you remove your VR headset and return to reality, that is," the statement on the report read, as quoted by Games Industry.

The report noted that Capcom's Development Division 1 would be the team to work on the VR project headed by "Resident Evil 5" producer Jun Takeuchi. The group was responsible for the development of the "Resident Evil" franchise and could be possibly working on a VR game.

The Japan-based company looks forward to having the positive response it got from their "Kitchen" VR technical demo, which has been showcased at last year's E3 event. Capcom considers VR as the hottest market at the present and they will continue developing games for the current consoles, per Game Rant.

The report adds that the company's VR horror project, which is currently in development, will be depending on how popular VR will be in the future. "Resident Evil 7" may be the title that Capcom will develop as the franchise is one of their bestsellers along with "Mega Man," "Street Fighter," "Devil May Cry," "Ace Attorney" and "Monster Hunter."

According to IGN, Development Division 1, the team working on the "Resident Evil 2" remake, could make a VR test on the game before adding the new feature. The new entry on the franchise could be titled as "Resident Evil VR".

Game Rant also reported that the Kenzo Tsujimoto-headed company may very well release VR games on multiple platforms. They could use PlayStation VR as support for the PlayStation 4 while "Oculus Rift" is compatible with the Xbox One.

But Capcom has a better track record in terms of PC gaming, that's why adding a VR-compatible product for PC is also a possibility. No confirmation has been made by Capcom regarding the release of the VR "Resident Evil" game, but Game Rant speculates it is in the works.

For now, "Resident Evil" fans should be excited for the release of two games from the franchise: the aforementioned "Resident Evil 2" remake and a multiplayer shooting game titled "Resident Evil:Umbrella Corps," per Digital Spy.
