New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony wants to become a better leader in the 2015-16 NBA season and he asked their coaching staff to hold him accountable for his mistakes.

Anthony told reporters on Monday that he wants their coaches to single him out in film sessions and let him know his mistakes for him to be aware of the things that he needs to work on.

"I kind of challenged the staff to kind of push me and stay on me when I'm not doing something," Anthony said via Newsday. "Call it out in the film session so everybody can see that and hear that. By them doing that, when that time comes, it kind of forces me to be at the top level of my game on both ends of the court."

Anthony said that his previous coaches like Jim Boeheim in Syracuse and George Karl during his days with the Denver Nuggets had their own ways of making him accountable for his mistakes. Heading into the new season, the high-scoring superstar said that he is seeing a lot of positives from their coaching staff headed by Derek Fisher.

"It's more of a collective unit now," Anthony said. "More of kind of the assistant coaches and the video guys, just sitting down with them and sitting down with players and kind of just going through different scenarios, different situations and just kind of wanting to be held accountable out there."

The Knicks are coming off a disappointing year last season, as they finished with the second-worst record in the league at 17-65. To improve their chances this season, the Knicks made several roster moves, signing key free agents like Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams and Kevin Seraphin.

New York also selected Kristaps Porzingis with their fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and also added rookie Jerian Grant, the 19th overall pick in this year's draft.

Anthony feels that if their coaches hold him accountable, it will bring out the best of him and his teammates in the upcoming season.

"I think it brings the best out of me and if you bring the best out of me, I think it will bring the best out of everyone on the team," said Anthony, who averaged 24.2 points and 6.6 rebounds in 40 games last season.
