NFL Standings 2015: Philadelphia Eagles Take Over First Place in NFC East Over Giants, Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants in a terribly played game on Monday Night Football. With that win, the Eagles are now 3-3, and have taken over first place in the NFC East.

The Eagles may be in first place at the moment, but let's not kid ourselves, this division is terrible. None of the four division teams have looked very impressive so far, and not one of the four NFC East squads even have a winning record at the moment. The Eagles victory on Monday Night Football was their first divisional win of the season and their second win in a row.

Sam Bradford had three interceptions last night which brings his season total to nine touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Eagles could very well win the NFC East playing like this with just eight wins, but that's not going to win in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will turn those turnovers into touchdowns in a heartbeat.

The Eagles face the Carolina Panthers next week. After that they have a bye week.

As for the Giants, they too are now 3-3. The Eagles obviously get the tiebreaker because they have the head to head advantage. The Giants looked absolutely awful on Monday. Eli Manning connected with Odell Beckham on the opening drive for a touchdown, and the Giants never scored again. Manning had a pretty bad game which was highlighted with a pick-six in the second quarter.

The Giants offensive line has exceeded expectations, but the secondary is getting torched. The Giants secondary ranks 30th in passing yards allowed, and the defense ranks 28th overall in total yards allowed. The Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, but they will have their chance at redemption this week. The Giants take on the Cowboys on Sunday in a must-win game at home.

Speaking of the Cowboys, they are barely staying afloat. The Cowboys began the season a promising 2-0, but devastating injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant have taken their tolls. The Cowboys are 2-3 overall, but are still in this, barely. There's still no telling exactly when Romo and Bryant will be coming back, but we do know Matt Cassel is now the starter over Brandon Weeden.

The Cowboys would definitely have more wins if they were healthy, but this is football, and injuries happen. The biggest advantage the Cowboys have over any NFC East team at the moment is their divisional record. The Cowboys are 2-0 in the division with wins over the Eagles and Giants. If Jason Garrett's squad can continue to just win their division games, they will be fine. Last season the Cowboys were 4-2 against NFC East teams. This division is going to come down to who wins the most division games.

NFC East teams are a combined 10-13 so far.

The only thing normal in the NFC East this season is the bottom dweller. The Washington Redskins are (again) in last place in the division with a 2-4 record. The Redskins have lost three of their last four games, and the future still remains uncertain for Robert Griffin III as their quarterback. The only thing the Redskins can do at this point is spoil someone else's party in the NFC East. With DeSean Jackson hurting and Kirk Cousins not playing good, it's going to be another long offseason for Daniel Snyder.
