The Metal Gear game series has been around for almost thirty years and it is still as popular today as it was back in the 1980s. Fans are eagerly anticipating the series' next installment. The Ground Zeroes series of Metal Gear Solid will release in Europe and the United States on March 20. Konami verified rumors that the game released on Monday, March 10 in the United Arab Emirates. Konami asked UAE players to enjoy the game but to not post spoilers that could ruin the gaming experience for American and European players.

Reportedly, Ground Zeroes has the stealth of the first two Metal Gears, coupled with the open feel of the third game. Ground Zeroes has an in-depth main storyline as well as five additional side missions, or side ops, which are not considered part of the MGS canon and are not as in-depth but are just as much fun to play. Early players have reported taking only two hours to get through the main storyline although it has been pointed out that those players likely did not explore the game's world in-depth and just focused on completing the mission.

Ground Zeroes was supposed to be released alongside The Phantom Pain (another Metal Gear Solid series) but design difficulties forced the creators to separate the two games and release Ground Zeroes prior to The Phantom Pain in order to lessen the wait time for fans. In the MG canon, Ground Zeroes is the prelude to the storyline in The Phantom Pain.

Ground Zeroes is expected to be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One and will cost between $19.99 and $29.99. All four consoles will have a physical and digital release. A heads up to PS3 users: If you pre-order Ground Zeroes through the PlayStation Store by March 20, you'll get a digital copy of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD for free.
