When Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor was a guest on SI Now last November 2014, he was asked if he could defeat Stephen Farrelly, better known as WWE Superstar Sheamus. "I would whoop his ass. It would be no contest," McGregor answered as quoted by MMA Mania.

It sparked a Twitter exchange between the two fighting Irishmen as Sheamus called out McGregor for not winning any titles yet in the UFC. "Notorious" responded back by saying he could team up with Brock Lesnar against the current Money in the Bank holder and a partner of his own choosing, per FOX Sports.

The two seemed to mellow down towards the end of the exchange as both agreed to have a good drink of some fine Irish whiskey in Dublin, talk about fighting and fight everyone at the bar, as reported by MMA Mania.

The 2012 Royal Rumble Winner was recently asked at Angela Scanlon's Close Encounters on RTE of what he thinks about his fellow Irishman and if he is open to fighting him. "He was having a go at WWE in these interviews he was doing. The first couple of times I let it go but then I decided to have a bit of craic and banter with him. If someone's going to have a crack, that's fine," the three-time WWE World Champion said as quoted by The Irish Mirror.

"Would I take Conor McGregor? No, he's a lot shorter than me. I don't think we'd be allowed fight, a heavyweight and a lightweight. Would I take him if I had to? Absolutely. Course I would. No one could take me. No one's better than me. I could walk over anyone," he added.

In his WWE Profile, Sheamus stands at six feet and four inches tall and weighs 267 pounds while "Notorious" is five feet and nine inches tall and fights in the 145-pound division, per his UFC Profile. According to Bleacher Report, the continued war of words between the two Irishmen is just to entertain the fans and the talk about fighting in a ring or the Octagon is just a fantasy.
