The 2015-16 NBA season and the new fantasy basketball year will start in less than a week. If you are still planning to join a league, here's a list of the top small forwards and possible sleepers this year.

Kevin Durant - Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is the best small forward option heading into the new season based on Yahoo Sports' Draft Big Board.

This came as a surprise to many because Durant missed the majority of their campaign last season due to a recurring foot injury. But in 27 games, the former NBA Most Valuable Players showed that he is a solid contributor in major categories.

Durant averaged 25.4 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the field with 2.4 three-pointers per game and also shot 85.4 percent from the free-throw line. The 27-year-old superstar also posted 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists to go along with almost a block and a steal per contest.

It remains to be seen whether Durant's minutes will be managed in the upcoming season because of health issues. It should be noted, though, that new coach Billy Donovan played Durant for almost 29 minutes during their 113-102 win against the Utah Jazz, where he finished with 29 points on 73.3 percent shooting and eight rebounds.

LeBron James - Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is the second-ranked small forward, but a fantasy owner does not need to be a rocket scientist to know that he is still a top-pick caliber.

James averaged 25.3 points on 48.8 percent shooting from the field with 1.7 three-pointers last season to go along with 7.4 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals. However, the four-time Most Valuable Player shot just 71.0 percent from the foul line and committed a career-high 3.9 turnovers per game.

Fantasy owners should also be aware that Cavaliers coach David Blatt could reduce his minutes during the regular season to prepare him for the playoffs.

Who Are the Sleepers This Season?

DeMarre Carroll had the best year of his career last season with the Atlanta Hawks, but he could even surpass his performance last year in the upcoming season. The 29-year-old forward, who averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds last season, is expected to have a bigger role after moving to the Toronto Raptors this offseason.

Fantasy owners should also keep an eye on Giannis Antetokounmpo. The 20-year-old forward averaged 12.7 points and 6.7 rebounds on top of 2.6 assists last season. If he stays healthy, fantasy owners should expect an increase in production in almost all categories this season.
