Beyoncé was groomed to be a star, according to her first love Lyndall Locke.

In an exclusive interview, Locke talked about his past relationship with the singer, whom he dated for 10 years. He also revealed how at the young age of 12 Beyoncé was already a "control freak" since she wanted so much to be a celebrity.

Locke told Mail Online that Beyoncé tried so hard to achieve fame that she later became a control freak. It reportedly didn't help that her father, Mathew 'Big Mac' Knowles, was also pushing his daughter to become a singing sensation at the age of 12.

"She was focused and knew what she wanted. She started singing when she was five and her parents supported her. There was a Beyoncé train on the fast track to fame and you were either on it or off it. Some people fell off the train and others jumped," he said.

Locke talked about how he had experimented on marijuana and alcohol but Beyoncé never joined him because she was so focused on protecting her voice.

"Beyoncé told me she would never smoke or drink because that would hurt her voice. She was a control freak. In one incident, Beyoncé fled the scene of a minor car accident because she feared it would be 'bad' for her image... even though she was years away from becoming famous," Locke told Mail Online.

Locke recalled Beyonce's reasoning why she had fled the scene. The pop star reportedly told him that she had only acted or thought smart during the situation. Staying at the scene wouldn't have been smart since she can't be seen hanging around at any mess or else it would destroy her reputation.

Beyoncé and Locke dated for 10 years since she was 12. However, their relationship fizzled out in the height of Beyonce's success. Jay Z also showed up in her life. Locke recalled how Beyoncé would constantly mention his name during their conversations. Although she claimed that Jay Z was never her type, the pair married in 2008 after Lyndall and Beyoncé broke up in 2003.

However Locke, who according to Mirror UK is now a chef and runs his own catering business, admitted that he does not harbour ill feelings towards the singer. Even after he was shut out of her life because of her fame, Lyndall told Mail Online that it was Jay Z who suits Beyoncé since he helped her career soar to great heights.

More of Lyndall's confessions and revelations will reportedly be in the book "Becoming Beyoncé - The Untold Story," by author J Randy Taraborrelli.
