World Boxing Organization middleweight champion Andy Lee wants a showdown with the undefeated boxer Gennady Golovkin.

Lee is going to defend his WBO title against Billy Joe Saunders on Dec. 19 at the Manchester Arena in Lancashire, per BoxRec. Yet, he is also yearning for a great fight with "Triple G" in the future, Boxing Scene noted.

Although the Kazakh warrior is considered fearsome because of his 32 knockout wins out of all his 34 victories, per BoxRec, Lee is determined to face him. Why wouldn't he? Golovkin currently has three prestigious championship titles under his name as he owns the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Organization and International Boxing Federation crowns right now. "Triple G" just captured the IBF title from Canadian warrior David Lemieux on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden via an eighth round knockout.

"I want his belts. I like his belts. They look good. Holding the belt and being the champion now, it puts you in a key position. It wasn't that long ago that I was on the outside looking in, but now I'm in the midst of it all - and that's where I want to remain. I'm a tiger for him, but he's a tiger for me too," Lee said.

There will be two things Lee may be praying for right now. First, Lee should be hoping to get past his mandatory challenger this December. Second, he should be hoping that Golovkin also triumphs against the winner of the Nov. 21 World Boxing Council title fight between current champion Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

If "GGG," the interim champion and WBC mandatory challenger, brings down either Cotto or "Canelo" in his next fight, he will be sporting another belt. That will surely be another fancy treat for Lee to aim for.

However, there's another scenario that can make the Golovkin-Lee envisioned bout sooner, which is if the November winner chooses to avoid Golovkin. If that happens, Golovkin could earn the WBC crown by default, being the mandatory challenger.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed that the Cotto-Canelo bout winner must defend his title against Golovkin. Without doing so, he will then have to either vacate or be stripped off the crown, a separate Boxing Scene article noted.

"The only way to avoid a confrontation with Triple G, is if all of the involved parties signed an agreement in which they agree on another solution," said Sulaiman.
