Yahoo!'s websites have been named the top website in Mexico as a digital measurement and analytical firm launched in the country.

comScore, Inc. launched its comScore Mobile Metrix in Mexico and have measured the mobile behaviors in the country as it has been able to collect in the United States.

According to the digital measurement and analytical firm, comScore Mobile Metrix was developed to help comScore's clients obtain insights into the online mobile market. With the insights, clients are able to know what are the popular devices, whether smartphones or tablets, and what mobile operating system was utilized, such as Apple's iOS or Google's Android.

"With the launch of Mobile Metrix in Mexico in March, Yahoo Sites ranked as the biggest Web Site during that month with 6.8 millions of unique visitors for smartphones and 2.7 millions of tablet's users," noted comScore. "Highlights the more than 5 million people accessing Yahoo Sites through an Android mobile device and more than 2 million did so through an iPad tablet in January 2014."

In total, Yahoo Sites garnered more than 9.4 million visitors, regardless of mobile devices, for January.

Grupo Televisa held the No. 1 position with 2.5 million unique visitors from smartphones while tablets accounted for 871,000 unique views.

The browser Ask Network ranked third with smartphones accounting for the most mobile views with 2.4 million unique visitors. For tablets, 853,000 unique views were accounted for.

News was important for Mexicans as El Universal de Mexico finished at fourth place with 2.1 million unique visitors from smartphones during January wile tablets accounted for 590,000 views.

Terra-Telefónica wrapped up the top five with 2 million unique visitors from smartphones and 560,000 from tablets.

According to comScore, the top 10 websites from mobile devices in Mexico does not include data from public access computers, such as Internet cafés or laptops.

The data benefits comScore clients, notably advertisers and agencies, as they can learn the mobile sites and apps that perform effectively toward a specific audience and demographic.

comScore added, "For publishers, Mobile Metrix validates your audience with proven, third-party metrics to help support mobile advertising sales and shows how you compare to the competition."

"Yahoo!'s position in Mexico is significant considering that, by eMarketer estimates, mobile internet ad spending will grow 87.7 [percent] in 2014, reaching $172.8 million to claim approximately one-fifth of total digital media ad investments-by far the greatest commitment to mobile in the region," noted eMarketer.

As a result, eMarketer forecasts Mexico to be the largest mobile Internet advertisement spending market in Latin American up to 2017.
