Is the showdown between eight-division world champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and British boxer Amir Khan imminent? The World Boxing Council silver welterweight titleholder claimed that negotiation between his camp and Team Pacquiao is going well.

"King Khan" told Indian reporters that the reason he is spending his time in their country is to find a quiet time from the fight talks going on, Boxing Scene.

"Talks are going really well. They (Pacquiao's team) are speaking to my team, I have just left it to my team. I fight anybody who is brought in front of me. If it's Manny Pacquiao, it's Manny Pacquiao if not then somebody else. But we are still waiting for response on what's going to happen. That's why I took a little break and came to India just to get away from all that because negotiating for a fight is not easy," Khan said.

This may be the reason why he was very confident that he is the "frontrunner," per BBC Sport, among all candidates for the Filipino boxing icon's next and final fight next year.

The 28-year-old boxer explained that a Pacquiao-Khan fight will be a good match to sell as it has a "good story" behind it. Khan suggested that with their background as former sparring partners under Freddie Roach, it is such an interesting battle to plan.

Furthermore, the U.K.-born warrior reasoned that since it is "Pacman's" last fight, it is very likely that he would "end his career in a big way," unlike how Floyd Mayweather Jr. ended his. Mayweather chose former titlist Andre Berto to clash with him on Sept. 12 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Other Options for Pacquiao

There are several contenders vying for that special spot, which is to be "Pacman's" final foe, although some boxers may have higher chances of making it.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum appeared inclined to choose the World Boxing Association super lightweight champion Terence Crawford for his boxer.

"Personally my opinion... Terence Crawford deserves this opportunity," Arum told Boxing Scene.

Arum also suggested that Pacquiao will also deliberate on having a third match with World Boxing Organization welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley. Thus, Bradley must perform well on his fight against Brandon Rios on Nov. 7.

However, the 36-year-old boxer is still waiting for his second shot with Mayweather, Fight Hype reported.

"We're still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that," Pacquiao said.
