Disney stunned the world by releasing a new international trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" replete with new footage. That release came on the heels of Disney also releasing five new character posters for the film.

Regarding the trailer, fans will get to hear BB8's "voice," see the first footage of C3PO and Leia as well as new stuff from Chewie. There is more Kylo Ren as we see and hear his lightsaber ignite. In one now famous image, the Knight of Ren threatens Rey with the weapon on the vegetative planet.

There is also more revealing dialogue about Rey waiting for her family, and the trailer ends with a reference to "Hope being found today." If there was any doubt that this film is a newer version of "A New Hope," then it diminishes with every new revelation.

Han Solo also now adds "The Force" to his lists of things that really happened in the past. Worthy of note is that Luke is still MIA in this trailer, and Poe Dameron is also becoming a less prominent figure with every new reveal.

As for the new posters, they give fans a closer look at two of the beloved returning characters, as well as a few of the new ones that will be introduced in the upcoming film. Along with Princess Leia and Han Solo, the newest posters also portray Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) with the red lightsaber, Rey (Daisy Ridley) with her big staff and Finn (John Boyega) with a lightsaber.

The posters also obscure the right eye of the featured character, and it's unclear what the reasoning behind it. It is however a nice use of the rule of thirds.

However, there are a number of missing characters. For example Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who is supposed to be a protagonist in the film, did not get a poster while Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) continues, unsurprisingly, to be missing from promotions. Additionally, Captain Phasma failed to appear even though she has been promoted throughout.

Throughout the past few weeks the cast of "The Force Awakens" have been on the campaign trail promoting the upcoming film. Recently Daisy Ridley and John Boyega spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about landing their roles and about the process of doing a "Star Wars" film. Ridley spoke about the secrecy of the project and noted she had a hard time with being quiet about her involvement. Boyega spoke about the pressures of being in a Star Wars film and said for him story was the most important part of the process.

"Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Forces Awakens" opens on Dec. 18 and also stars Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Peter Mayhew, Gwendoline Christie, Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Warwick Davis and Max Von Sydow. The movie was directed by J.J. Abrams.
