At least four people were recorded to have died at Sunday's Maryland car crash in Hyattsville. Meanwhile, 12 people were also injured because of the fiery crash while several are currently in critical condition.

FOX News reported that at least four people were killed in the fatal crash between a pickup truck, another vehicle and a van that resulted in a fire at 2684 Chillum Rd, about six miles northeast of Washington, DC.

WBALTV further reported that a total of 14 people were involved in the crash including three adults and one child who, unfortunately, lost their lives. While the incident is still being investigated by detectives, there are eight adults that are currently in the hospital and four are in critical condition.

Apparently, the pickup truck crashed one car, which resulted in a fire. Then, the said pickup truck traveled towards a passenger van, which is carrying around 15 passengers on board.

A spokesman for the Prince George's County Fire Department (PGFD) released several statements updating the conditions of the fatal crash on Twitter. "I am on location in 2100 block of Chillum Rd in Hyattsville of a horrific crash involving a passenger van. Multiple fatalities and injured," Mark Brady of PGFD said earlier on Twitter.

"Final U/D #MCI on Chillum Rd 4 deceased (3A 1C) Transported 6 children (4 Critical). Transported 8 adults (4 Critical) to area hospitals," he later on added.

Meanwhile, Marc Bashoor, PGFD's fire chief told WBALTV that motorists were trapped for a while in last Sunday evening's incident until they were assisted to be removed from the risky environment because of the fire.

Bashoor also released a statement on Twitter, saying, "Accidents like Chillum Road are difficult for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the injured and deceased."

PGFD's fire chief also informed of the quick response team for the incident. Sixty units were reportedly dispatched for assistance. "Thank you firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers & police who dealt w/this incident, including over 60 PGFD & @mcfrs on scene units," Bashoor wrote.

Furthermore, the Hyattsville Fire Department revealed, as quoted by NBC News, that "this is one of the worst accidents in our area in recent memory." As of the moment, there are no further updates as the incident is still currently being investigated.

Reports suggest that detectives are currently trying to figure out what caused the fiery crash, leaving fatalities and injuries in Hyattsville, Maryland, WBALTV reports.
