In the upcoming episode of the “The Blacklist,” after months of just trying to stay alive and free, Liz (Megan Boone) gets a call from her duplicitous ex, Tom Keen.

A teaser for Episode 7 of Season 3, titled "Zal Bin Hasaan," shows Tom (Ryan Eggold) reaching out, telling Liz that he has good news for her over a tapped phone.

“Tom wants to meet,” a hopeful Liz says.

“That’s not a good idea,” Red (James Spader) says in a matter-of-fact tone.

As reported by Spoilers Guide, the episode, which is the last one before the Fall Finale, shows both the FBI and the Cabal making significant gains in their hunt for Liz and Red. As this happens, Tom’s attempts at exonerating Liz will be met with some complications.

Ryan Eggold’s slippery portrayal of the two-faced Tom Keen has been a highlight on the series.

The 31-year-old actor spoke to TV Guide about his character’s motivation and mindset.

Eggold summed up Tom’s persona as being centered around commitment. The actor explained his character was an extraordinarily committed to his job.

"It's all that sustains him in life and so it's all he has to cling to," Eggold said.

"He's very good at it, and he's addicted to the mask that he wears, whatever it may be, because he has trouble living with himself or the lack of the life that he has."

The other that thing that fuels Tom is a dilemma involving Liz.

“He feels something and is kind of mixed up about it,” Eggold says. “I don't think he's really fully aware of how he feels about Liz and whether or not to help her."

“The Blacklist” airs Thursday nights at 9/8c on NBC.
