Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu spoke out against Donald Trump's anti-immigration rhetoric and hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.

The director, who was a guest of honor along with artist James Turrell, at the annual Los Angeles County Museum of Art & Film gala, was adamant against many of the controversial comments Trump has said during his presidential campaign.

While the director never actually said Trump's name, it was clear who he was talking about.

"Unfortunately, there are currently people proposing we build walls, instead of bridges," Inarritu said. "I must confess that I debated with myself, if I should bring up this uncomfortable subject tonight. But in light of the constant and relentless xenophobic comments that have been expressed recently against my Mexican fellows, it is inevitable."

Inarritu continued by stating that if the rhetoric continues it will not only be a danger for Latin Americans but also for people around the world. Inarritu was also against the phrase "Illegal Immigrants" and proposed that they be called 'Undocumented Dreamers.'"

Trump's comments have been incendiary over the past few months especially when he launched his campaign. Univision cut his contract for the Miss Universe pageant while Macy's decided to stop selling his clothes. Trump is currently leading the Republican polls but is losing ground to Ben Carson.

On Saturday Latino groups, protested in New York against NBC for booking Donald Trump as SNL host.

The LACMA gala saw a number of A-List talent attend including Gwyneth Paltrow, Dakota Johnson, Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto and Salma Hayek.

Fox's Jim Gianopulos, Netflix's Ted Sarandos, producer Brian Grazer, CAA's Richard Lovett, Bob Daly, Terry Semel, Mike Medavoy, Bob Shaye, Steve Bing, Megan Ellison, Steve Tisch and Birdman producer John Lesher were also in attendance.

Inarritu won the Oscar last year for his work on "Birdman" and is currently finishing up his last film "The Revenant" starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The movie is slated for Christmas and is also receiving a lot of Oscar buzz.
