MLB Trade Rumors: Colorado Rockies Listening to Offers for Carlos Gonzalez?
The Colorado Rockies are officially in rebuilding mode as they have traded superstar shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2015 MLB trade deadline. According to The Denver Post, the Rockies are willing to listen to offers for two-time all-star left fielder Carlos Gonzalez.
Gonzalez had a bounce-back season after playing only 70 games in 2014, batting .238 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs. In 2015, he hit a career-high of 40 home runs with 97 RBIs while batting a respectable .371, per Baseball-Reference.
After the trade of Tulowitzki, many believed that the Rockies will also let the 30-year-old outfield go with the New York Yankees and New York Mets, per FanSided. But Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com said that Colorado decided to hold it off until the Winter Meetings.

The Denver Post added that Colorado need pitching and “CarGo” is a great trade chip to acquire proven pitchers or young arms to develop. Rockies general manager Jeff Bridrich was asked if the team will go after pitching in free agency or through trade.
“That's a tough question. We haven't seen any of the market play out yet, or even begin to, so it's a tough question to answer. I think there are, in terms of our depth, some internal answers that we are very hopeful that we are going to have, next year,” Bridrich said.
Gonzalez still has two years and $37 million left from the seven-year, $80 million extension he signed with the Rockies in 2011, per Spotrac. It is a very reasonable price for a power-hitting left-hander that some teams need.
In a report by Sporting News, they listed seven teams that need to acquire the services of "CarGo." It includes the Los Angeles Angels, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins. The Angels are in need of left-field help and Gonzalez is a good fit while the other remaining teams are in need of improvement in terms of additional power bats.
According to Bleacher Report, Colorado should accept a trade for Gonzalez if they can find a trading partner that is willing to give up a pair of top prospects. That partner would have to accept the fact that the left-handed slugger is a low-risk, high-reward player because of his injury history.
