Country singer Jason Aldean is in hot water regarding a controversial photo that surfaced recently, showing him in his Halloween costume wearing a black man's face portraying rapper Lil' Wayne.

Aldean was seen wearing a wig looking like he had dreadlocks, a pair of sunglasses and a face painted with dark makeup. The photos of "Burnin' it Down" singer was first leaked online by a blogger on the website Nashvillegab.com. The blogger described how Aldean's 'Lil Wayne portrayal was a highly upsetting look and a poor choice for a Halloween costume.

Hours after the photos were leaked, Aldean did not give his reaction to the many comments and reports that described how his act of wearing a black face was insensitive and even racist. During the early eras, white Americans painted their faces and acted on stage as an act to degrade African-Americans, USA Today noted.

Despite the country singer's silence, his representative recently released a statement confirming that the leaked photos was indeed Aldean. The representative said that the photos leaked were Aldean "dressed as rapper Lil Wayne for Halloween," the statement said as quoted by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, Aldean is still silent and has not issued any apology for his actions. USA Today recalls that in 2013, Julianne Hough's Halloween costume was also criticized, the only difference is that Hough quickly apologized.

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize," Hough previously said in a statement posted on Twitter.

According to The Guardian, some may not take Aldean's costume as an insult. The publication further reported that for other people, the costume is fine and not degrading for some communities and race. Anyone, including celebrities, should have the right to wear whatever they want as Halloween costumes.

Aldean recently appeared at the Country Music Association Awards, where he performed and was nominated for Album of The Year, the award that Chris Stapleton got for his album "Traveller."

USA Today notes that Aldean was recently named the top digital selling male country artist in 2014 by the Recording Industry Association of America and his last album, "Old Boots, New Dirt," was platinum.
