A business jet crashed into a home in Akron, Ohio, on Tuesday, leaving no survivors.

NBC News reports a small plane clipped electrical and telephone wires, before plowing into an Akron apartment residence and bursting into flames. According to the Christian Science Monitor, nine people were killed in the accident, seven of whom were employees of members of the Florida real estate company Pebb Enterprises.

"Our hearts are broken this morning with the news of the tragic accident that took the lives of two principals and five employees of Pebb Enterprises," the company said in an online statement. "We are shocked and deeply saddened for the families, colleagues and friends of those who perished."

No one was present at the building when the Hawker H25 jet crashed, and there were no ground casualties reported.

"Obviously, the situation could have been worse, granted, if anybody was home," State Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Haymaker said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating what caused the plane to strike the building. The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was preparing to land at Akron Fulton International Airport when something went awry.

The Weather Channel meteorologist Quincy Vagell called conditions "poor, with low visibility and fog."

"Outside of a controlled runway landing, getting a plane down safely in an emergency would have been a very tough task," Vagell said.

Several people saw or heard the explosive crash.

"I heard this noise, and a plane just dropped out of the sky and veered to the left and plowed into the duplexes there," witness Rebecca Porter said.

Another nearby resident saw the aftermath of the incident.

"I heard a loud plane that sounded super low to the ground," Hannah McCune said. "Then I heard a big boom and looked up and saw a bunch of smoke and flames."

One teen caught her reaction to the crash while recording herself online.
