An independent developer who planned to combine two massively popular cult games, "Five Nights at Freddy's" and "Undertale," has cancelled the project due to frustrations over negative feedback.

User LSFDevelopment posted the announcement on Reddit, after a teaser trailer for the canned crossover title "FNAFTALE" was met with tons of angry responses from fans who did not want the two games to mix.

The developer said he expected to get constructive criticism on the trailer, but, as he admits he should have realized sooner, "this is the Internet."

"The video rapidly gained tons of dislikes and destructive criticism, just because they didn't want their precious Undertale fandom get tainted by FNAF," the Reddit post read. "Honestly, I saw their point. But this went too far, to death threats and even suggestion of suicide."

The developer added, "I'm quite frankly sick of their sh*t. There's only so much BS a man can take."

Although the developer says he may consider going forward with the project, the trailer has been taken down from YouTube.

Other users expressed their sympathy for the creator, condemning the immaturity and toxic behavior of some members of the respective games' fan communities, particularly Undertale.

Undertale was released in 2015 by developer Toby Fox, who coded the entire game himself. The classic-style RPG received critical acclaim and amassed a huge fanbase.

Likewise, Five Nights at Freddy's was created by indie developer Scott Cawthon in 2014, who went on to release three sequels, after the horror game became a cult phenomenon on the web.

LSFDevlopment's would-be fan project looked to utilize the RPG elements of Undertale, while incorporating characters from the FNAF universe.

Even though the project may never come to fruition, FNAF fans can look forward to seeing Cawthon's characters in the upcoming RPG Five Nights at Freddy's World.

Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale are currently available on Steam. FNAF can also be played on mobile devices.
