The Los Cabos Film Festival has handed out their awards bringing to the high profile festival to an end.

According to Variety, the big winner at the festival was Lenny Abrahamson's "Room," which won the Cinemex Competencia award. The film added to its impressive awards list, which it has picked up throughout the festival circuit as it continues to obtain Oscar buzz.

The film has already won awards at the Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, the Hamptons, Mill Valley and New Orleans Film Festivals.

"Room" is currently in theaters and is being released by A24. The film is one of the front-runners for the Academy Awards and star Brie Larson is expected to be the Best Actress front-runner. Some even have the film as the top Best Picture contender. 

Among the other winners are Paulina del Paso who was presented the Cabos Discovery CTT EXP & Rentals Award for her film "A Flor De Piel ("Skin Deep")."

Sebastián Hiriart "Carroña's ("Carrion")" won the Cabos In Progress Chemistry Award carrying a $45,000 prize in color correction services while the Cabos In Progress FOX+ Award went to "La Habitación ("The Bedroom")" directed by Carlos Carrera. 

Alejandra Márquez's "Semana Santa" was awarded the México Primero FOX+ Award worth $40,000 for Latin American broadcast rights while Julio Hernández's "I Promise You Anarchy ("Te Prometo Anarquía")" earned both the FIPRESCI award for Best Mexican Film and the México Primero jury's $15,000 Cinemex Award for best film.

Ewan McGregor also collected the 2015 Protagonist Award for excellence in acting for his work in "Last Days in the Desert." The actor will also be seen in "Jane Got a Gun" this upcoming year alongside his "Star Wars" co-star Natalie Portman.

Other winners included Jessica Sanders' "Picking Cotton" and Julio Hernández Cordón's "Te Prometo Anarquía."

Los Cabos Film Festival ran from Nov. 11-15. The festival has done its best to establish itself as the "Cannes Film Festival of Latin America," creating a destination where major deals can take place.
