Now that BlackBerry has proven its ability to combine their best qualities with the best of Android's, what's next? Apparently, the new BlackBerry Vienna.

Leaked renders of the upcoming BlackBerry handset dropped on CrackBerry recently, offering a peek at the successor of the BlackBerry Priv. The images show that the company is interested to continue infusing classic BlackBerry features with their more contemporary handsets.

Fresh off the Priv's sliding keyboard, the team tried a different approach with a front-facing QWERTY that's always visible for a slimmer and lighter design. The BlackBerry aesthetic is reimagined for Vienna, and it's interesting to see how the lauded electronics company can keep making things fresh for their loyal following.

A report from Pocket Lint revealed more details about the BlackBerry Vienna, which is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the premium Priv that wowed the market the past month.

Side by side its predecessor, the Vienna will feature a screen that's a tad smaller due to the presence of the keyboard at the bottom of the device. The screen will likely measure around five inches with a lower resolution than the Priv's 5.4-inch QHD AMOLED display.

Leaked photos showcase three physical buttons in addition to the keyboard, although it's unclear what the purpose of these are. The smartphone will also be fitted with a front-facing mono speaker, front-facing camera, volume rocker and power buttons on the side, and micro-SD and SIM card slots. There is also speculation of a mostly plastic body like the BlackBerry Leap.

No other details have been revealed, but much of the expectations have revolved around the new BlackBerry Vienna being a touch lower on the smartphone totem pole compared to the very high-end Priv.

Features of the recently released device include a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 18-megapixel rear camera and an LED flash, rounding up to a price tag of $699 from the BlackBerry website. The upcoming Vienna may be a slightly pared down version of this, and feature a more affordable cost as well.

While sales of the BlackBerry units have dipped over the past several years, CEO John Chen has revealed that the company has more smartphones lined up for the future.

"I'm gonna let the market tell me," Chen said in an interview with Fox Business when asked if the Priv is BlackBerry's last handset. "It's [Priv] been planned for a couple of years. I kept telling people, I'm never gonna give up the so-called phone business. I love this device and we have a range of products after this."
