Michelle Rodriguez's upcoming film has been acquired for distribution.

Variety is reporting that Momentum Pictures has acquired the worldwide rights for Rodriguez's bullying drama. The film, entitled "Milton's Secret," also stars Donald Sutherland and William Ainscough.

The film is currently in pre-production and is based on the children's book "Milton's Secret: An Adventure of Discovery Through Then, When, and the Power of Now."

The picture tells the story of an 8-year-old who is bullied in school and whose teacher and grandfather help him overcome his issues.

The drama is a turning point for Rodriguez, who has been known for her work in action films. She was recently seen in "Furious 7" and is also known for her work in "Avatar," "Machete Kills," "Resident Evil: Retribution," "Lost" and "BloodRayne." It will be interesting to see the dramatic side of Rodriguez.

Sutherland can currently be seen in the final "Hunger Games" film and is also known for "The Italian Job" and "Mash." The actor has won two Golden Globes for his work on "Path to War" and "Citizen X."

Ainscough has been seen in "Hidden," "Seed," "R.L Stine's The Haunting Hour" and "The Christmas Secret."

Entertainment One acquired Momentum Pictures in 2013 and relaunched the company in 2015. While there is no date on the U.S. release of Rodriguez's new film, Entertainment One and Momentum reached a deal with Orion Pictures to distribute the film in the U.S. and Canada.

The film was produced by Buck Productions and Hulo Films and was directed by Barnet Bain ("The Lost & Found Family," "The Celestine Prophecy"). Donald Martin and Sara B. Cooper wrote the script. The film also stars David Sutcliffe, Mia Kirshner, Sheila McCarthy and Hays Wellford.
