It appears that the family oriented themes that have been featured on "The Last Man on Earth" here lately are starting to take hold for the little show that keeps going. The next episode shows that even though the Earth has wiped out humans, they can still revel in the holiday spirit.

Episode 9, titled "Secret Santa," will skip a week, instead airing the following week on broadcast network Fox on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 9:30 p.m. EST, according to TV Guide.

Even though there has been a lack of time relevance on the show, Carol has not forgotten what time of the year it is. With the holidays approaching, she seeks to put the gang in the Christmas spirit.

There lies the problem though because nobody seems to care about Christmas anymore. That is something that may have died out with the other billions of people who have been decimated from the Earth's surface.

But Carol is having none of that and she wants her new family to really get excited about it so she comes up with a plan to get them in the mood.

Her plan is to coordinate a secret gift exchange for everyone so that they can bond well with each other. But this Secret Santa idea may end up backfiring on them. The simple truth is that they are in southern California and there is no snow or sleigh bells that traditionally get people excited for Christmas.

You may be able to deduce that the least episode served as a Thanksgiving-style meal, according to Entertainment Weekly. That is where Phil brought back the bull and they all got to sit down to some fantastic beef on their dinner plates, which was a sweet relief for everyone. It also kept Phil out of the doghouse, so it was nice for the group to come together and function as a nontraditional family.
