NBC has released a first look at "Telenovela" starring Eva Longoria.

The new show, which premieres on Jan. 4, 2016, takes a look behind the scenes of a Spanish telenovela set. In the new series, Longoria plays Ana Sofia, a TV superstar, who is in competition with the production's cast and crew to retain the spotlight. As NBC noted in the press release for the show, "When the cameras turn off, the drama turns up."

In the show, Ana will have to fight network execs, drunk script writers, her co-stars and a familiar onscreen love interest.

The preview shows Longoria talking about her role in the show and all the fun she has on set. Her castmates also praise Longoria for her dedication to the work and for her collaborative efforts.

The show gives an interesting spin to the Latin American telenovela and should bring a large Latin viewership. After all, Telenovelas are part of the culture, and many Latin entertainment shows like to go behind the scenes of these serials. With "Telenovela" premiering early next year, NBC has the entire holiday season, when families spend a lot of time together, to turn this into a major familial event for Latinos.

Eva Longoria stars and also serves as executive producer. The actress is best known for her work on "Desperate Housewives," her fight to bring more Latino content into the mainstream, and her support for multiple charities.

The show also stars Jencarlos Canela, Diana Maria Riva, Jose Moreno Brooks, Alex Meneses, Amaury Nolasco, Jadyn Douglas and Izzy Diaz.

Before the premiere of the show, NBC will hold a special two-hour preview on Dec. 7 after audience favorite "The Voice." NBC, the parent company of Telemundo, is promising that all Latin audiences will be able to enjoy the show, as the company is also dubbing it in Spanish.

"Telenovela" premieres on Jan. 4 at 8:30 p.m ET.
