Mrs. Doubtfire is making a comeback!

For those of you unfamiliar with the 1990s classic, let us fill you in.

The 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire stars Robin Williams as a struggling actor and recently divorced father of three who creates the persona of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire as a way to be closer to his children.

The heartwarming film was quite a success in the '90s and won the Golden Globe for best comedy/musical while Robin Williams won the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical/comedy. Aside from the awards, the movie also made over $400 million at the box office.

Will Mrs. Doubtfire 2 be as equally successful? We will just have to wait and see, but for now we do know that Elf writer David Berenbaum will be behind the sequel's script. The film's original director Chris Columbus and star Robin Williams will also be reuniting for the sequel.

As for the return of original cast members like Sally Field and Pierce Brosnan? Well, there's been no word yet about whether they will rejoin Columbus and Williams for part 2 but Mara Wilson, who played Williams' daughter in the movie has been very vocal about not taking part in Mrs. Doubtfire 2, reports USA Today.

Wilson tweeted, "For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I."

She then explained why. "Sequels generally suck unless they are planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended when it needed to end." Wilson also added, "There are many, many reasons why I don't want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven't even asked me (yet), so no need to worry."

Well, guess that answers that question.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a sequel has been in the works since 2001 when Bonnie Hunt was tapped to write a script, but despite many drafts and other scribes hired, the project slowly died and has been inactive for years, mainly due to Columbus and Williams not sparking to any new take.

Here's to hoping Mrs. Doubtfire 2 graces the big screen soon! Will you be watching?
