After many years of salivating from envy against European car lovers, the 2016 Ford Focus RS, the performance version of America's beloved hatchback, is finally coming to the country.

It does seem kind of ironic that an American-made car is not available for purchase to Americans. However, that does not matter anymore because according to Leader Call, the Focus RS is about to hit U.S. soil.

Hot hatch lovers will definitely love the 2016 Ford Focus RS because honestly, this is what a performance hatchback car is all about.

Boasting an amazing 350 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, this all-wheel drive little beast can torch its rivals whether on track or on the road. What's more, it even has a "Drift Mode" button to allow drivers to have a little fun with this bad boy.

In a related article by Yahoo, former Top Gear's stunt driver Ben Collins demonstrated the Focus RS' drifting abilities and said in verbatim that it "drives like a hooligan."

Collins drove the hot hatch and praised its massive performance potential. He noted that when users put it in a standard setting, the 2016 Ford Focus RS will drive like the usual "everyday car." The exhaust is tuned down, the suspension is soft and gentle and the steering remains light.

However, once you put it into "Sport" and "Track" modes, it is there the RS transforms into a performance beast. The ride becomes tighter, the weight of the steering wheel becomes heavier and the traction control takes a back seat, allowing the driver to fully unleash all of the RS's horsepower.

The RS even beats the Subaru WRX STI's number. According to Auto Blog, the car can apparently go 0-to-60 miles per hour in a record of 4.7 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating Ford RS car ever.

The reason for that may be due to its innards. As noted, this performance hatch is equipped with Ford's specially engineered 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine.

It's a driving enthusiast's dream come true because, apparently, it's only available in a six-speed manual transmission, which is just fitting because a performance car like this does not deserve a pansy automatic transmission.

Gear heads must be going nuts because as of now, the 2016 Ford Focus RS is currently in production and will be made available for buyers this Spring of 2016.

According to estimates, the car will clock in a price of $36,605. But if you cannot wait, its little brother, the Focus ST, is already available.
