The "Fuller House" made the headlines after the spin-off was first reported last year and fans are eager to know as to whether their favorite twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would be joining the cast. Fans however got a disappointing answer after the Olsen twins declined the offer.

In an interview with E! Online, "Fuller House" creator Jeff Franklin stated that he was disappointed with the fact that the Olsen twins would no longer want to be part of the remake, but he understood where the twins were coming from and he had no hard feelings.

Franklin then added that after contemplating on who would replace the twins, they eventually thought of casting Elizabeth Olsen as he shared, "John and I talked about what to do and we thought for a moment, what if? We've known Elizabeth since she was a little girl."

Franklin contacted Elizabeth's agent, but later on realized that it wasn't a good idea. He did however make it clear that the phone call was just an inquiry and not an offer.

As for the series' second season, the "Fuller House" creator is still keeping his hopes up that the Olsen twins, or at least one of them would agree on making a comeback even just for an hour or so.

He said, "Everybody does feel that hole in the family. But it's like, all family reunions, there's always somebody that doesn't show up. But hopefully next time around, we'll have them back."

Back in May 2015, John Stamos openly stated that he is heartbroken with the fact that both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would no longer be joining the spin-off as per People's report.

Stamos explained that the "on and off announcement" concerning Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen was not a publicity stunt, as on one of his Facebook post, Stamos stated, "Just so you reporters know this is not a money gig for any of us -- quite the opposite -- we want to give the fans what they deserve for supporting us for so many years -- we all just want to have fun."

The official announcement that the Olsen Twins would no longer be joining the spin-off came from the executive producer himself, Robert L. Boyett. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Boyett stated that despite the fact that the twins would no longer be part of the series, they would still be part of the "Fuller House" family.

Boyett then stated, "It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House."
