Actress Diane Guerrero of "Jane the Virgin" and "Orange is the New Black" is speaking out against deportation in a new video where she personally testifies about the pain it causes Latino families and communities.

In a new video produced by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) and United We Dream, Guerrero calls for more humane immigration policies and a rollback of immigrant detention. She also takes a stance against anti-immigrant rhetoric.

"With all the hate speech and intolerance these days, it's easy to forget that we are a nation of immigrants," she said.

At another point in the video, the 29-year-old Colombian actress recalls the trauma she experienced when her parents and older brother were deported when she was a teenager.

"I was 14 when my family was torn apart by deportation. My family was taken because they were undocumented immigrants," she says.

At the end of the video, she makes a call to action, asking people to join her in standing up against "reactionary policies aimed at targeting and criminalizing the immigrant community."

She also asks people to petition elected officials to condemn deportation policies.

"Diane's story is not unique and exposes the harsh human toll of policies focused on deportations, incarceration, and immigration enforcement," said Grisel Ruiz, Staff Attorney at the ILRC, in a statement to Latin Post.

"This video is meant to educate people on what is likely happening in their own back yard and encourage them to call on local and national leaders to stand up to policies that criminalize immigrant communities."

"No child should have to see their mother or father taken away from them or live in fear that they will someday disappear," said Cristina Jiménez, co-founder of United We Dream. "All of us need to stand up to stop the mass incarceration and deportation of immigrants."
